Learning Analytics Diagnosis and Recommendation Model earns KOLAS AI model certification

EdTech company Wicked Storm (CEO Jeongjun Lee) announced on June 11 that its in-house AI model, the Learning Analytics Diagnosis and Recommendation Model v1.0, received KOLAS AI model certification (Certificate No. 2024-122-VSW-K). The test item was the AI algorithm, and external testing verified the model’s functional suitability.

The model diagnoses learning levels based on learners’ learning behavior and learning experience data, and recommends items and learning content tailored to weak areas. The certification objectively verified the accuracy of its learning level diagnosis and of item recommendations based on weak areas.

The model has been applied to ‘Toc Toc! Math Expedition’, the AI-based elementary math class support system of the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS). Following its 2023 project to enhance the system, Wicked Storm is carrying out its operation project this year, collecting learning behavior and learning experience data and developing and applying level diagnosis and recommendation models. The model continues to be enhanced based on learning data accumulated in actual service.

Wicked Storm sees AI diagnosis and recommendation as evidence that supports teaching and learning. When AI diagnoses a learner’s level and suggests the next learning step, the instructor reviews it and applies it in class, and the learner continues the suggested learning on their own.

Earlier, in April, Wicked Storm earned GS Grade 1 Certification (KTL-GS-24-0035) for its learning data repository Lecognizer V1.0, and in the same month it took on a project to build a learning data utilization system linked to the introduction of AI Digital Textbooks, building the learning data hub, national-level learning analytics indicators, and curriculum standards and learning maps. With this certification, Wicked Storm now holds external certifications for both its solution that stores learning data and its AI model that analyzes it.
